Top Best Romance Anime of 2023 so far

 

In this list, I will share the best anime of the first part of 2023 (in my opinion), that were released between January and June 2023.

Mitsumi Iwakura leaves her rural city to pursue her professional goal. To achieve it, she enters a high school in Tokyo, where she quickly becomes friends with Sôsuke Shima, a very popular comrade.

This anime was a surprise to me. It really gave me the vibe of school romance anime released between 2010 and 2015 and that we love so much such as Blue Spring ride. The anime is well balanced between romance, comedy and drama. I can't wait to see the sequel.

• Sugar apple fairy tale

The plot takes place in a world where fairies have become slaves to humans as they have found their weak point: their wings.. Anne Halford is a young practitioner of the art of sugaring. She will therefore want to go to a competition to be recognized for her talent. In her journey, she will meet a fairy Shall Fen Shall, with sinister and closed appearances, but who hides a lot.

This anime mixes adventure, fantasy, romance and drama. It was a wonderful discovery for me this year. I'm so happy that the season is planned so quickly, for this summer.

• Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion

The story starts with a reincarnation in a world where the MC is destined to die. In fact, this world is based on a novel that she knows well. She will therefore do everything to survive and avoid her imminent death. This anime is adapted from a successful webtoon.

The character of the heroine is really iconic. She is intelligent, thoughtful and determined. She doesn't hesitate to use every way to get to what she wants. The couple's dynamic is very enjoyable.

• Otonari ni ginga

Since the death of his parents, Ichiro Kugado has had difficulty supporting his siblings with his low income as a mangaka. In search of an assistant, he meets Shiori Goshiki, a talented and beautiful young woman, who will literally change his life.

This anime is one of those that I approached without really knowing what to expect. And I really got hooked. The couple is realistic, relatable and very cute. The plot is surprising and very interesting and the pace is good. I even shed a few tears at the end.

• Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru

Akane Kinoshita was recently dumped by her boyfriend and is having a hard time getting over it. To cheer herself up, she starts playing an online game and meets people who will brighten her life. In particular the encounter with Yamada, a cold and mysterious character.

This anime is I think the most popular of the moment, so I think it's not surprising to see it appear in this list. It's an anime that gives you a good time, fresh and light, with relationships that evolve and dramas that appear. It has all the codes of traditional romance anime.

• Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken

Amane Fujimiya is the neighbor of Mahiru Shiina, a student known for her angelic beauty and excellent grades while Amane is a very introverted ordinary student. One day, he will find her alone in the rain, and will offer her his umbrella. Following this, Shiina will want to thank him and then begins a sincere relationship based on honesty and transparency.

This anime depicts a relationship that is mature, realistic, comical and very endearing. It's satisfying to see these two characters, introverted, calm and relatable. It is simple, easy to follow and entertaining.

• Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi

Himuro is the descendant of a snow woman. This generates a snow/ice reaction whenever he feels a strong enough emotion. On the way to his new job, he will meet Fuyutsuki, who will warm his heart.

It's an anime that revolves around everyday life, through work, hanging out with friends and more. The quality of the graphics and the color management is just magnificent. It is a pleasure for the eyes. The group of characters is nice, Himuro is super cute and personally, I really identified with the main character.

• Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia

Ganta Nakami and Isaki Magari are both insomniacs and will meet in atypical circumstances. They may be able to find the cure for their insomnia: being close to each other.

The anime is beautiful in both graphics and story. The relationship is natural, realistic, and satisfying to watch. It's an anime that makes you nostalgic and makes you feel a lot of emotions. Being insomniac, it is easy to identify with the characters in this quest for rest and inner peace.
