This list will aim to highlight anime that have as their primary plot one or more mysteries to be solved throughout the episodes.

• Eden of the east

The plot takes place in a modern Japan scarred by unexplained missile attacks. Misaki Mori is a young student on a school trip to the United States when she finds herself mixed up in stories that put her in danger. She is then saved by a mysterious amnesiac Japanese named Akira Takizawa who only has a phone and a gun on him.

This is an interesting anime dealing with terrorism and conspiracy theories. We have a lot of questions throughout the anime. The serious scenes are interspersed with lighter and very funny scenes. We would have liked the anime to be longer.

• Summer time rendering

Shimpei decides to return to his native island after years without news. This island is surrounded by surprising and mysterious phenomena. As soon as he arrives, he will witness something bizarre that will make him question everything he thinks he knows about the world. Let me tell you, the story is crazy and was in my opinion one of the best anime of its season. It's a really complete anime that satisfies when you finish it. Full of twists without losing coherence or falling into the ease of the script. We never get bored throughout the episodes.

• Kiznaiver

The Kizuna program allows those who are connected to it to share and distribute their wounds and pain among themselves. A group of young people will be chosen without having given their agreement and will not have the choice to participate. What is this program? Why were they chosen? Lots of questions just waiting for an answer.
It's an anime that arouses a lot of curiosity. We live the adventure through this group of young people who have completely different personalities and interesting life stories but also traumas.

• Kyokou suiri

Release date: 2020

Kotoko was abducted by Yokais to become their goddess of wisdom. Her purpose is to help these fantastic creatures settle issues between them but also to be a link between humans and yokais.
In this anime, we witness several mysteries that will be solved in a very original way after having several different hypotheses. I find the characters very enigmatic and original. The pace is sometimes slower because there are a lot of deep discussions with analysis. The quality of the graphics makes the anime very enjoyable to watch.

• Erased

Release date: 2016

Satoru Fujinuma, 29, is a man with dreams but without determination to achieve them. This is mainly due to the fact that he protects himself from the gaze of others. However, he is very unique due to the fact that he has a kind of power that is triggered when an accident or disaster is about to occur. A new event will take place that will project him into distant and painful memories.
I watched this anime quite late and without too much expectation. But I can tell you that from the first episodes, you are likely to be very surprised and shocked. Lots of deep topics are covered here and the romance is light but important.

• Gosick

The story takes place in 1924 in a parallel Europe. Kujo is Japanese student who arrives in an 'aristocratic' school where he meets the atypical and mysterious Victorica, who lives as a recluse and has a power and intelligence that can analyze, find conclusions to all mysteries. 
The story, the characters, the graphic quality, everything is well put together. It's the kind of anime that makes you directly nostalgic. The characters are very likeable and the duo evolves well together.

• Zetsuen no tempest

Fuwa Mahiro is missing. He is looking for the murderer of his sister, Fuwa Aika, who died a year earlier. Tagigawa Yoshino was the young woman's best friend and one day finds himself attacked by an unknown woman. This woman happens to be part of an organization that aims to resurrect an entity known as the 'Tree of Destruction.'
Many questions are put in place from the beginning both on the plot and the context but also on the characters. This anime is full of mystery and action. It has a special atmosphere and very catchy music.

• Nil Admirari no tenbin

Release date: 2018

This anime is based on a well-known and popular otome game.
The story takes place during the Taisho era. Trying to save the honor and reputation of her family, Kuze Tsugumi must marry an unknown man. However one day, her little brother attempts to set himself on fire, with an old book in his hand. It seems that this event is far from being an accident or harmless. She then discovers that certain books have an influence on humans and that she has a special power.
I wish the anime was longer and complete. It's one of the most popular Otome game so you know it's worth to adapt. 

• Steins gate

Release date: 2011
Themes: Sci-fi, mystery, drama
Episodes: 24

A group of friends attempt scientific experiments to send messages to the past. These actions will attract a certain organization's attention that could endanger them.
This anime includes time travel and other scientific matters. It is in my opinion an intellectual anime that requires concentration and reflection due to the mysteries and questions present from the beginning. • Koi to producer

Release date: 2020

Themes: Historical, romance, fantasy

Episodes: 12

Our main character inherits her late father's company and becomes a producer of a TV program. Unfortunately, the company is on the verge of bankruptcy and it must find ways to get it back on its feet. While trying to restore her popularity to the program, she will meet surprising people and face supernatural events that would suggest that everything is connected...
